You know that moment when everything just clicks? She’s here bby, and it’s about time.
personal:
This week’s been a whirlwind, but in the best way. My mom’s in town, so there’s been a little extra help with August, which means I can hit the gym more, sneak in a few workouts, and actually sit down to write this. August? omfg he loves it and has been soaking it all in… especially his first trip to the nail salon. It was hilarious but he did so good, hey self care starts young y’all. We’ve been lunching around town and he’s just laughing his head off, being his usual smiley self. (honestly, being a mom is everything I didn’t know I needed, fr.) LIKEEEE…. Am I living the mom dream? I mean… I think so? It’s really about dealing with the ups and downs, like fitting in a tough workout while handling a baby’s unpredictable schedule. The small wins…like getting into a smaller pair of jeans or actually meal prepping keep me grounded. Motherhood is a wild ride dude, full of surprises and challenges, but honestly, I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Cliche, I know. but true true.
workouts:
let’s talk sweat. I’ve been gym-hopping this week and loving every minute. Studio Three has been my go-to for consistency, that place where I feel grounded, but this week I decided to mix it up with something different. I hit F45 (south congress location) with a friend, and it immediately brought me back to my CrossFit competition days. The intensity, the group camaraderie, the way your whole body’s screaming but you keep pushing through? Oooof, and yeah yeah I know it raises your cortisol levels and some people hate it but here’s the thing, any intense workout is going to raise cortisol. That’s kind of the point?? It’s a natural response to physical stress, and it’s what pushes your body to adapt, get stronger, and grow. The key is managing it, and for me, the mental and physical benefits I get from CrossFit-style workouts (and anything that reminds me of those days) far outweigh the cortisol talk. But who the fuck am I? Grain of salt people…. Plus, I feel amazing after a tough session. & some days, I’m craving a hot yoga flow or something low impact, and that’s cool too. Gotta do what feels good for YOU babes.
K- Lift ATX was next, and the battle ropes there? Straight-up soul-crushing. They stole my SOUL and left me humbled on the turf, but there’s something about being wrecked by a workout that keeps me coming back. I’ve been working on a low-rep, high-round circuit that combines box jumps, battle ropes, kettlebell deadlifts, squats, and lunges with a 20 lb kettlebell. It’s one of those workouts where you finish feeling both exhausted and completely energized, yah feel me? …like you’re dead and alive at the same time. Especially in this fucking heat…are we done yet texas? plz. I need a break.
It’s been a slow build, but I’ve hit my stride y’all. The workouts are finally paying off, I’m down a pant size and that’s the kind of progress that’s got me waking up every morning ready to kill it again. LFGGGG
food:
You already know I like to keep my meals simple but delicious. Beef stir fry with Primal Kitchen’s soy-free teriyaki is back on my rotation, and it’s just so damn good. I’m using Wagyu steak because it’s more tender. Meal prepping has also been key this week—chicken and green beans on deck, super versatile. Eat them plain, throw them on a salad, or wrap that chicken in a tortilla for a quick meal. (if you’re into that sorta thing)
And shoutout to Snap Kitchen, they’ve been coming in clutch. I’ve been obsessed with their breakfast burrito. Sometimes I split it between two mornings, and sometimes I go all in after a tough workout, especially if I’m starving—those potatoes keep me full as hell. I have a code for 50% off if you want to try them AMANDA50
Pro tip; if you are in atx go to Hanks and order the garden & goat salad (add shrimp, well done) it’s devineeee.
what i’m looking forward to:
Without giving away too much…. Next week’s looking fun. I’ve got a birthday party on the horizon, a mom’s get-together, and a new restaurant opening I’ve been dying to check out. Plus, there’s coffee with friends (in all reality, I’ll order a matcha but you get the idea), a much-needed date night at another new to me Austin spot, and of course, game night with the crew.
Can you believe it’s almost October? This month is going to be transformative, full of surprises (more on this for my subs) and adventure. I’m ready for it all.
And don’t forget, if you’re in Austin, I’m giving away a two-hour head spa experience over on my Instagram. Seriously, you won’t want to miss this one.
anyways- make sure to subscribe if you’re into this kinda stuff. It would mean a lot. You’ll get the inside scoop on my latest adventures, juicy recipes, and maybe even a few more parenting mishaps that are too good not to share. & who knows, you might just find a little inspiration for your own journey along the way. Join the community, we are pretty cool.
Love ya like a mutha
